About Us

Ed Martin founded Intertidal Timber in 2024 after he took on the fitting and shaping of the Heel Posts to a set of dock gates at A&P in Falmouth, following a methodology laid out by the last of a dying breed of specialists in this area.

Intertidal Timber went on to fit and fasten all the timber elements to the inner dock gates at Seaham Harbour in County Durham and will begin work on the sea gates at Seaham in the autumn of 2026.

Ed spent the early part of his career working as a traditional boat-builder in Falmouth in Cornwall. He has also spent many years building traditional post and beam timber framed buildings and carrying out all aspects of both first and second fix carpentry work.

The Intertidal Timber team is made up of traditional boat-builders from Cornwall, bringing with them a wealth of experience and the ability to combine modern machines with time-served craft skill.
